Idle Lab · Open data · Reproducible science
Open science from a computer that would otherwise sit idle.
We run small, reproducible experiments on authoritative public datasets. We publish every measurement with its uncertainty, the checks it passed or failed, and the code to reproduce it. When something looks unusual, we try to get it to scientists who can use it.

How we keep it honest
Anomaly ≠ discoveryAn unusual number is a reason to check, not a result. Most anomalies are processing errors or known effects.
Independent confirmationA claim is only labelled as passing validation if a second, independent dataset agrees.
Everything reproducibleExact source files, their hashes, the code version and the command to re-run are published with each finding.
Corrections in publicIf a finding is wrong, it is retracted on this site with the reason, not deleted.
